Ya know, I think I am just a wee bit uncomfortable with preaching. I try to avoid voicing my opinions on politics, sports and religion. For some, all three are one and the same. I let my work speak for me and I value that everyone who takes in the work can get something different.
It has often pained me to restrain myself because I am an outspoken person, so I channel that back into the work. At my best, I am bringing some laughter into people's lives while leaving a thought-provoking impression. At my worse, I'm causing some confusion. I'm okay with both.
Sometimes the restraints of a single panel gag (or even a sixty-eight page graphic novel) are inadequate to convey what you need to express and you need to turn to the ole fashion words published on a blog. And here I am!
I would like for you to take just a moment to consider your neighbor. Yes, your actual neighbor. If in that moment you can transform that neighbor into someone your heart recognizes as your family and you can pass that moment of transformation onto anyone who will listen, you will have the power to change the world.
If you can accomplish such a transformation in your way of thinking it will then be an easy thing to consider a stranger, and likewise think of a stranger as your family; your very own blood-relative.
By now, science has helped us to acknowledge that we are all related in some fashion. If you can, just for a single moment, reflect internally and transform your neighbor into your family, what fascinating achievements lie in your future.
